Why it that every time one sees an Asian male character in a North American TV show or movie, he is modelled after one of the following stereotypes?

1. The studious and filial but bland son in medical school/law school who secretly desires becoming an interior decorator/chef/fashion designer.
2. The stoic new immigrant whom everyone thinks is a country bumpkin but who is secretly a martial arts master. Additionally, he never becomes romantically involved with the heroine he inevitably helps out of some trouble.
3. The misogynist who is incapable of expressing a nuanced thought, and whose chauvinism ends up driving his wife or daughter to an illicit relationship with an 'englightened' Caucasian male.
4. The ruthless and brutal Triad/Yakuza bully who has no respect for the law or for human life, who dresses like he was a cariacature of a Western thug and who drives a souped-up Honda or rides a flashy sport motorcycle.

We're people too, you know. Argh. Sometimes I hate being surrounded by all this cracker-ness.

And, by the way, why aren't there any Asian male porn actors?
