Ugggg, I will start with yesterday, because I felt quite accomplished then, and that hasn't happened to me a whole heck of a lot lately.
I've got about 90% of my stuff to enroll in school done. My FAFSA got processed and the info was sent to the school, so I'm just waiting on them to email me a few more documents to fill out and return and I should be good to go other than applying for whatever loans are necessary. I got a handful of scholarships filled out, and all in all I'm feeling pretty good about my progress made in one weekend.
So let's fast forward to today. I try and get gas this morning and my card is declined, which I thought was odd because our account is tied to our joint savings after my checking account, so normally it would just dip into that. Tired and grumpy I go home and go to sleep and figure I'll check it when I wake up. So I wake up and my checking account is -$294 and our joint savings is $0. Now I'll be the first to admit I'm not always fiscally responsible, but I was thinking I'd remember spending the $600 in the savings account and then little bit in my checking account, so I go into my account to see what random charge possibly fucked me over (thinking maybe school charged me for something without saying or something stupid like that).
Turns out someone stole my identity and cleaned out my account to some charity (or at least what would appear to be a charity). So I get on the phone to the bank, and the lady said they had already flagged the activity as suspicious when it first came up. So now I will have to wait until the charges go through (they're all pending now), and then they'll be able to email me a statement that says they were made without my authorization and I won't be charged for them and all that. So in the meantime I have $0, and $0 in reserve AND I have to wait for a new debit card. My paycheck is direct deposit so if this isn't resolved by next week I won't even be able to get that money.
Why do people feel a need to be dishonest and steal from other people? It's just money...it's really not that amazing.
