I gotta get on my soapbox for a second because I am feeling frustrated. I was in a bookstore yesterday and leafed through a book called "It's Only a Tattoo and Other Myths Teens Believe." By the name of the book I assumed it was the usual conservative Christian propaganda but as I read through it I realized it was worse than that. It was a blue print for prejudice and bigotry. When I got to the section on homosexuality I was so offended I threw the book back on the shelf.
It makes me so angry that there are still people who believe that loud music and tattoos are the first step toward devil worship. I am very comfortable with my spirituality and it makes me crazy when people are surprised that I have piercings, tattoos and a great sex life but I am also a Christian.
Argh! I could go on and on about this. I hope I am making sense. It makes me mad because Christianity should not equal intolerance. In fact, it is supposed to be opposite. Jesus spent all of his time with beggars and prostitutes and he condemned the religious establishment. Jesus taught that we should love all people. He said "Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."
I have more to say but I won't. I need to cool off about all of this. Am I crazy? I am curious to know what you think.
Have a Happy Turkey (or Tofurky) Day. For my fellow Canadians, Britains and all who live and love one another Down Under have a totally excellent rest of the week. I pray ya'll are well and happy.
Peace.

I mean I'm more or less agnostic but I agree with you. I always thought Christianity was about forgivenes and acceptance for everyone - but I've never really learned much about religions in general.
