Breakups suck. Even when the breakup involves your birdlove of five years flying off on you.

You remember the good times, when everything was just kissieness and cute.

You remember those awkward first days, coming to trust each other.

And you get sad and you wonder if it was you, and you wonder if you should keep fighting, or if it is time to walk away.
I don't know when to give up on Narcissus.
I have taken an afternoon off of work to search, I've tormented Water, playing birdsounds so that Water will call out and beg Narcissus home. Budgies have a flocking instinct, but not a homing instinct....so if Narcissus couldn't hear Water call, that's that. I've looked on every found-pet resource, posted ads and responded to them....and I'll keep checking.
From everything I'm reading, birds do find their way home, with the help of humans keeping an eye out.
But in the mean time, Water needs a companion.
So tomorrow I'm going to try to find a baby 'keet to keep Water company. As sad as I am about Narcissus, I am happy too to have room for a new animal in my life.. I'm hoping that someday soon I'll actually have a little trio - Water, Narcissus, and the new baby.
Right now I have a hollow place in my chest where Narcissus still has a home.
