I like to read and post as many enlightening things as possible. We all have a tendency to lose perspective and hope. I like sharing the things I find because we all go through situations that evoke the same emotions. Our stories may be different......but the way we feel is the same.

February 14th (first and foremost...Happy Valentine's Day)

EXPECTATIONS

Nobody objects to a woman being a good writer or sculptor or geneticist if at the same time she manages to be a good wife, good mother, good-looking, good-tempered, well-groomed and unaggressive.

-Leslie M. McIntyre

Right! So what's the problem? It's not easy to be well groomed when we have toddlers running around (or in my case 5 animals and a girlfriend)...but we try. It's not easy to be good-tempered and unaggressive when we have deadlines at work and at home....but we try. It is not easy to produce children and be svelt and good-looking...but we try.

There is probably no group of people in society who try harder than women to meet the expectations of others. As a result, we are always looking outside for validation, and no matter how much we get, it isn't enough. In always trying to be what others think we should be, we have lost ourselves and end up having little to bring to any relationship or task.

EXPECTATIONS are like girdles. We should have disagreed the years ago.

February 15th

FEELING CRAZY

You can't start worrying about whats going to happen. You get spastic enough worrying about what's happening now.

-Lauren Bacall

Why is it that we always seem to be the ones that need help. We do feel crazy at times, and feelings of being overwhelmed are not unfamiliar. And yet, why does the label craziness (if someone has to be crazy!) always rest on us?

Sometimes, it's a relief to admit that we feel crazy. Sometimes, we do need someone to talk with when we feel isolated. Others appear to cope all right. Why can't we? At least, talking with someone or going to a group with other women helps us recognize that we are not alone in these feelings. Seeking out help and support can be a real turning point.

PERHAPS my inability to cope with the insane situation the way I always used to be able to is a sign of my movement toward health.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! And, I hope you all have a safe and glorious week!

XOXO,

Miss Olivia Black Suicide
