I found this to be the perfect title....since I never get to these @missy @lyxzen @rambo @bloghomework(s) when they're posted haha. But better late than never...right?
It was a difficult choice as to which assignment I was going to be extending upon. The last few topics have been some really good ones. But after much diliberation.... I am going for
"If I could run my own business, what would it be. If I already run my own business, what is it and why?"
Well, I actually own my own business already. But to understand it fully, we must go back in time.
When I was a young girl, my mother started selling Mary Kay Cosmetics. I remember watching/helping her set up for the parties, and watching the ladies play in all of the wonderful makeup and products! I fell deeply in love not long there after. I was still too young to wear the makeup (said my mother), so I would sneak things when she wasn't looking and put it on at school. Not long after that I began colouring my hair and changing from a tomboy to a lady.
I loved how easily you could be someone or something complately different, for as little or as long as you like, just by playing with your hair and makeup. I have always been one to dable in fantasy (this is what helped create my love of (cosplay) modeling). I fell in love with the beauty industry so deeply, that I foiled a friends hair for the first time when I was 13 and in her kitchen. I was set, I knew where I wanted to be, but not how I wanted to be. I thought for a while that I wanted to be a professional/personal (hair)stylist/makeup artist; but after I began the schooling process...I realized that was not the case.
Part of the reason why I have always wanted to be in the industry, is the makeup. I have extremely sensitive skin, it doesn't like most products, and now that I live a Vegan lifestyle...things get a bit more complicated when it comes to beauty products. I decided I wanted to create two makeup lines of my own.
One would be geared toward the everyday woman. The woman that cares about the products she puts on her body, but doesn't want to skimp on luxury. These products are going to be a mineral based line, and a lot more fresh and light than most makeup. She is an active yet feminine womyn, who loves to take care of herself...but still remain as fresh and vibrant as she feels.
The other makeup line is going to be geared toward the industry. As I stated before, I have very sensitive skin. Most of the professional makeup lines out there, look great, but they cause me to break out, or have a hive allergic reaction. I don't like having red puffy eye lids for two days after having worn purple shadow. Plus, most of these lines are not close to Vegan friendly. This line is what prompted the entire idea. After I dropped out of two beauty schools, I realized this dream was more my speed vs the other one.
Then Pawn Stars happened. I had already been modeling for Suicide Girls for sometime, but this was a different type of publicity. This is when I realized I could start another company.
I LLC'd Miss Olivia Black, so I am a brand. This way, everything I do falls under this brand and is owned by me. I have the ability to have say so over all of the things I do, and I am setting up the future for the makeup lines. Every company I start will be under this LLC's umbrella. This makes keeping track of all details that much easier...and I get a lot of tax right-off's.
Having this LLC opens the door to the other projects I am working on. Since the start of my TV career, I paid very close attention to everything that went into production. This lead to the 4 TV projects I am currently working on, all falling under that LLC/brand.
One of the projects is a reality show about my life, showcasing my transition from being a entertainer to a performer. This idea came from my Suicide Girls Blackheart Burlesque Tour audition trial and error. 🙈 This is also what started the "Your Suicide Girl Learns To Dance".
My business is a bit different than most, because it's me, but it's my business and it gives me the ability to follow my hearts desire every day of my life.
I want to change the world, and I am going to do it by being an example. I am going to create a brand, and I am going to use that brand to clean up our cities, change lives with love and hope, and help people open their minds and heart in a way that is inlightening and freeing.
I believe as a collective whole we all deserve to live happy, productive, creative, and fulfilling lives. I want to help show people they can as well accomplish everything they have ever wanted....and it all begins with my brand.
