Guilt
Who I am is what I have to give. Quite simply, I must remember that's enough.
-Anne Wilson Schaef
Often, when we look in our inner recesses, we feel that we are lacking. We have been a disappointment to others. We couldn't "be there"when we should have been, and we didn't have all the information we should have had. Somehow, though it may be just a vague feeling, we have failed.
It appears that feeling guitly is a sex-linked gene. There seem to be an infinitely close connection between feeling guilty and being female.
When we feel guilty, we try to make up for what we have or have not done. We feel we need to "make something special," to make things all right. We need to make up for a "transgression" even if we don't know what it was.
I cannot make up for something I think I haven't done or have done wrong by trying to amke others or myself feel guilty.
