I know I am a bit behind on my blogs.....but blame my hard drive for that :( It decided to take a turn for the worst and needed replacing. Thankfully I was able to get it back from the Apple and will attempt to get the data recovered in the (hopefully) near future....but on to a more important topic!
Today I will be the tour guide to my fair city of Las Vegas! for my SG Army homework! @rambo @missy @charmaine @lyxzen
First of all....I need to thank the wonderful man that keeps my luscious locks so glorious...Jeremy Sunshine! I had the pleasure of visiting him today at his new location.....Sola Salons
This talented man is responsible for everything that goes into my hair....he is even the stylist that does my hair for my photo shoots!!!
He is even a Dread Lock specialist! So, ladies and gentleman....if you are in Las Vegas and your mane needs some love......make sure you call Jeremy Sunshine!!
Once I am out and about...I must stop for a tasty Vegan meal (I am a Vegan(no animal or animal by-product) in my diet and lifestyle). I have a few choice spots to visit....depending upon what I am in the mood for.
If I am wanting to go for my tried and true healthy soup and sandwich; you can always find me at the Bronze Cafe in the Center.
I am so happy our city is finally doing more for the Queer community. As a member myself...I have been waiting for more areas for us to relax and feel at home.
The entire Center LV had many charitable donations to build the new facility, but the cafe itself was sponsored by Steve and Andrea Wynn (Andrea is Vegan)
...so there are many yummy, yummy Vegan options!!!
the Tree of Life is always tried and true....but there are many Vegan and Non-Vegan options......they even have a bunch of different fantastic baked goods!!!! (which have been hard to find since I adopted the Vegan Life!)
But..one thing I really missed after adopting my healthy and cruelty free lifestyle were HOT WINGS!
BUT......alas there is good news!!!!!
Slice of Vegas has a Vegan menu and it includes HOT WINGS!!!!
Now I have had many a hot wing (in the vegan sense) and they are not good....But Slice of Vegas has done it right!!! And the hot sauce is just too yummy!! I even get a few extra for my ties and salad! (I am kind of a fat kid!)
(this was an actual meal I took place in.....piggy!)
But if it is Vegan Pizza you are looking for...you must go to Pop Up Pizza!!!
The Soho is the best Vegan Pizza I have ever had...outside of my own kitchen of course haha
They even have Vegan Soft Serve!!!! (but don't be silly and get the swirl if you don't like vanilla like me.....I did find out that I am still not a vanilla fan though haha....telling I feel.)
But once you get your hair done...and your belly's are full....where ever will you find a party and a cocktail????
To start of my night....I love a great show!
My current addiction is the new Andrew Dice Clay comedy show at Vinyl in the Hard Rock! If you are coming out to Las Vegas for a bachelor or bachelorette party or even a birthday party...this is the place to start!!!!! (but if you are not familiar with MR. Clay, he can be a bit offensive; so if you are faint at heart, I wouldn't suggest checking it out.)
After I get a few good laughs in....I have a list of epic dive bars! (I am not a night club fan....but don't worry, I will give you a few of them to check out as well)
One of the first bars I visited in Las Vegas, not weeks after moving here was the Double Down Saloon!
I have had many a drunken (and sober) nights here!!! I have been here to watch my friends down the AssJuice
(you win an imaginary prize if you notice whats wrong on the sign)
See The Objex perform....see awesome video that I cameo in below (5 points if you spot me!)
And the lead singer @melony is also a Suicide Girl!
And of course we made a silly harlem shake video with @chelsealavone and @bambu
But now I am just getting off of topic!
If I am wanting a place to be nostalgic, I've got a few glorious locations!
The Artifice is my cheers...I have been holding a bar stool down in this establishment since it's doors opened! They have even allowed me to host a few charity events there for Falling Whistles and the Las Vegas Catholic Worker!
I am not sure if it is still happening (my life has sadly gotten in the way) but they used to hold a game night every Sunday, as well as a Jazz band!
Plus...they are an end cap to First Friday Las Vegas!
If you are not familiar with First Friday, it is a local event put on (in most cities) to bring attention to local artist, food, music, products, and many other creative outlets! (CHECK YOUR OWN CITY FOR A FIRST FRIDAY! IT IS WELL WORTH IT NO MATTER WHICH CITY YOU ARE IN!!!!)
After the street fair ends....we take to Fremont Street! There is always the Fremont Street Experience, which now has a ton of local shows, SlotZilla Zipline, many new restaurants and of course...GAMBLING and STRIP CLUBS! (well...just one....which you might just recognize from a familiar movie....)
but as a local...we go to the East Side of Fremont.
You can find any one of us at the following wondrous locations.....
(Atomic Liquors is the oldest bar in Vegas, and got it's name from a cool story! There used to be nothing North of the bar, and it also had a patio for your viewing pleasure on the roof (they're wanting to rebuild said patio), bar flies would come from far and near to watch the atomic testing off in the distance with nothing but a cocktail and a smile to save them!) (The new owners even kept everything the possibly could when they revamped the bar! Now it is a hipster and original las Vegas bar fly hot spot!)
If bars are not your thing...or you just need a break from it all...I have a few escapes.....
Nelson's Landing has ghost tours, is moments from the river, and has perfect spots for an impromptu photo shoot (you have to check in at the convince store...but make sure they don't see your bits.....they don't allow nudity...unless they don't see it *wink wink
Red Rock Canyon has some amazing hiking trails...some with hidden water falls..in the desert! and......plenty of places for more shooting!!!!
and last...but certainly not least....you have to visit Mt. Charleston! This is the only place we have within an hours distance that has snow!!! There are many many hiking trails on the mountain and even a ski lodge....and guess what.....
photo shoot spots!!!!!
I could sit on here all day....and give you many a many recommendations....but I am sure you've read enough already....and my legs are numb from sitting in this position for too long hahah!!!
I am happy to be back!
And I am happy to be able to chat and share with you all again!!! I hope you post pictures if you (have) or plan to visit any of the places I have mentioned!!!!!
XOXO
