So, what I am confessing today; is also the reason I wasn't able to get to my @missy, @rambo, and @charmaine's sgarmy homework blog post yesterday. The irony!
Now time for my confessional...I feel like it should be a video like the reality shows haha
I have been a stripper for 10 years! hahha not really that eoic, I know. But I have always guarded the information, not because I am ashamed; but because others can attempt to cat it at times.
As I have stated before my mothers family is comfortable with nudity; and when I was 17, someone in my family who knew an entertainer said I would be able to pull it off. They explained that "God" created this work of art that is my body; and I am doing nothing more than showing it off, this is also what helped to make me comfortable with nude modeling!
Yay for that haha!
So; as I stated in my previous blog, I began mmy entertainment career (oficially) at Sammy's in Ft. Walton Beach, Fl. but really I began dancing a year prior to my Sammy's start date.
I worked briefly at a club in Wichita Falls, Tx........Maximus! As I said.....it was brief.
To start the story off, I will explain why I finally decided to become an entertainer. I have been in love with burlesque since I was a little human. I have always loved that very classic passionate seduction that is burlesque. I was raised in the small town of Chesapeake Beach, MD; so I had no idea how to break into it. So, having only the indtroduction to the strip club world....I was interested in that.
I moved to Wichita Falls, Tx shortly after graduating from high school; I was scrolling through the weekly paper looking for a job, and found one of the only clubs in the area, hiring. My significant other at the time was not okay with me being a dancer, so I thought about applying for a cocktail position. We got a group of friends together and decided to check out the club.
I had already wanted to work in them, but had yet to even visit one! How absurd!
After going in I knew I had to work there, so I applied to be a waitress. I was hired right away. I started on a Wednesday night, and loved it so far; on Sunday the manager approached me. Apparently the club hosted an amateur night constes, they asked me if I would please participate because they didn't have enough girls in the audience that night. I didn't knw what to do, oddly enough this is what I wanted; and here it was, offering itself to me. So, I told them I would think about it;and went off into the crowd. I didn't even realize, but I spent the next 2 hours marketing myself.
At the time, I barely had any tattoes, I was 18 and fresh out of high school; perfectly tanned and lean, with golden brown hair and lbonde highlightd, as inoccent as they come from a small town in Southern Maaryland. I was the Texas dream.
I walked around checking on all of my tables and telling the gentleman about my dilema. The manager wanted me to participate in this contest, but I was the amateur of ametures! I am a tiny female and have always been pretty upbeat, so of course the guys wanted to see the sweet, scared waitress get topless on stage for the very first time! I finally told the manager I would do it. He rushed me to a fellow dnacer "Nikki" (I will never forget her), she gave me an outfit, and tried to give me shoes (I wear a size 5), so I ended up having to go barefoot.
My very first performance on the stripper stage was to..........
Goodies!!!!
Haha I can't help but think of this exact moment every time I hear the song now. It could not have been anymore perfect for the entire situation. I was up there in my personal cotton Victoria's Secret thong dancing around like I was at home rocking out to my favourite song....which, I was.
The crowd went wild, the energy quickly took away all of my nerves! I had a blast....and made some good tips! When the two songs were over, the second being the other current Ciara song at the time of course; I ran back into the dressing room floored by the entire experience. They quickly explained that was intact not the contest, they just wanted to see me on stage! I was ushered back on stage for two more songs.
After the two other ladies performed, I was deemed the winner. I couldn't believe it! In my eyes I had just made a million dollars, and I was a shit cocktail waitress! Every night the server with the worst sales had to mop the floors behind the bar, as I was getting to my nightly mopping; a drunken Nikki was walking out of the door yelling, "Congratulations, You're now on the payroll!!" Was I? Was I going to start dancing even though my husband didn't want me to (only in that town because he was afraid his fellow military member would see me), I had no idea; but first I was join to tell him I won.
The following wednesday I was supposed to return to my next cocktail position, but after speaking with a friend earlier in the day; decided to dance instead. I went directly to the club, and told the same manager. Apparently the owner of the club was in the night I went for the first time with my friends. They had wanted to approach me then, to offer a position as a dancer. When I came I applied for server, they made it their mission to convert me. I was set to the local dance wear supplier (she made and sold clothes out of her living room), and was given shoes and a few outfits courtesy of the club.
Later that night when I returned to work (my husband having no idea) the bartender decided I needed a proper name. She didn't see me as a "standard" dancer with a name like Bubbles or Diamond, so who was I. I was directed to go get ready and she would have something for me when I returned to the bar.
"Presley", she stated from across the room as I walked toward her. You look like Lisa Marie Presley! So there I was, now Presley, and starting my first night as a stripper. I was later told a joke that has stuck with me since, "What is the difference between a cocktail server and a stripper....? TWO WEEKS!" I didn't even last that long hahah. But that is neither here nor there.
It was a slow night, and I wasn't having the same experience I had the Sunday prior; but I was still confident. There was a group of guys that had been tipping me all night, I was on stage again and already topless 20 seconds into the song, the main gentleman tipping me was in route to my stage again, dollar in hand.....then he made a huge to do, spun around like he had been a performer in his own right for years, loudly stating "NOPE!". I was furious!
Barely into the first song I grabbed my clothes, cursing "Fuck You!", "FUCK THIS!" and stormed off of the stage. I burst into the managers office, through the clothes at him and walked out, heading to the mozzarella sticks I had begun frying before my required stage performance. I grabbed the blistering hot cheese and it's partnering marinara sauce and emptied them both on the "gentleman" and walked out.
A year later, to the date (strange coincidence) I began working at Sammy's in Florida.
I have never said, but the Dali Inspired Pocket Watch on my left rib cage has a few significant meanings; one is the date.
I tried to find better photos, but apparently I suck haha. But here is a fun one from the free short series I have in my other SuicideGirls blog The Writing on the Wall, by Jeramie Ryan.
I decided once I stared dancing I was going to put together a traveling performance. I started researching feature entertainers, pole dancing, and the entertainer awards. I was in love. I was going to save the world one lap dance at a time!!!!!
I eventually turned 21 and decided to try my hand at the profession in Vegas. I was still chasing a modeling career and thought I could travel to Vegas, get used to a bigger city, and save money to move to LA. I had stars in my eyes and thought I needed to move to LA to achieve it.
Some years later now I am still working at Crazy Horse 3 in Las Vegas. I had quit dancing while I was working at Gold and Silver Pawn Shop and appearing on Pawn Stars. I still love the idea of having my show, but am a little past the night to night aspect of the job. It very much takes away from my passion (my modeling and philanthropic loves), I was far too tired to even think yesterday. I arrived home from work at 7 am and wasn't in bed until 8. And who falls asleep immediately after getting home from work...no one.
But I am still on a mission to have that performance! Sadly the only video I have is barely a version of my performance, and youtube isn't working. One day I will finally make it to a SuicideGirls Blackheart Burlesque Tour audition,or possibly have my own show! Who knows!
But I can say this, I am meeting with someone tomorrow to talk about my new web series, "My Day with a Suicide Girl". It will be about love of reading, writing, crafts, cooking, and everything else that goes into a Suicide Girl trying to transition from a perfumer in the local strip club, to an international performer and model.
We are also going to film a video to shop around to clubs to start my own tour...so you may have a video of my performance in the very near future!
XOXO
