Today I visited Kijori Fortress of which there is practically nothing left in our time, except for the stunning view!
Kojori is a mountain—climatic resort, an urban-type settlement within a municipality (region) Tbilisi in Georgia. one of the best resorts in the country. Kojori is located at an altitude of 1302-1400 meters above sea level, 18 km from the center of Tbilisi.
-Azeula Fortress in Kojori was built on the peak of a volcano and was considered impregnable.
-The date of construction in various sources is the 9th century or the 11th century. It's been a while.
-Queen Tamara (Tamara continued the activities of Tsar David IV the Builder and contributed to the widespread spread of Orthodoxy throughout Georgia, the construction of temples and monasteries. In Orthodoxy, she is canonized, in Russian lives she is sometimes called Tamara the Great) died here. Kojori Fortress served as her summer residence.
-Under the fortress there is a military cemetery, a church and a memorial to the cadets who died during the defense of Tbilisi in March 1921
