Satin flower, found on Mount Wells, near Victoria.

Wildflower season is starting to get going... should be some good photo opportunities soon. The satin flowers are early bloomers. Fawn lilies, calypso orchids and shooting stars won't be far behind, though.

I'll get back to "expanding my horizons" after flower season... wink

No worries about the rambling. I find the discussion very interesting. having to deal with invasive, foreign species in the course of my work, I have several points of view on it. In the case of the moths, how long have they been here? How much damage are they causing to the 'natural' ecosystem? The spray that they propose to use, have they looked at the impacts on species other than the moths? In the case of a well-established invasive species, there's not a lot one can do - getting rid of house sparrows is about as likely as, um, convincing the majority of people to think about other species and how we impact them. Even though the sparrows have significant impacts on resident, native species, their impacts at present are not being felt anymore, and people have moved on to other invasive species of note, like purple loosestrife. But you're very right, animals and plants should be treated with as much respect (in general) as other H. sapiens...too bad there's only a minority of us that feel that way.

Some days, it would be nice to be ignorant 'cause the good fight is killing me.
