I had a great weekend. On Saturday I went for a good jog up Capital Hill and then had breakfast with an old friend at Portage Bay Cafe. Good food with even better company! Then I went to work and put in a busy 7 hours at the restaurant.
On Sunday I went to work bright and early for a hour then had leftovers for breakfast before embarking on a vigorous little bike ride with my friend (same one as before) through his old hometown of Shoreline. It was a gorgeous day and he took a bunch of pictures with a new camara that he bought from a friend of ours that is now a paid deckhand on the Lady Washington. This friend of ours is not your typical sailor. She's cute as a button, 5'2'' tops and weighs about 90 pounds when she's soaking wet. She's in heaven right about now though and loves her new life on a tall ship.
Anyway, my bikeriding and photograph taking buddy took a bunch of pictures that he plans to post on Wikipedia.com. He's a scholarly nut and really likes writing and editing articles on Wikipedia. I simply enjoyed the adventure and the exercise.
For lunch we dined at The Central Market's Food Court. We were both dissatisfied with the quality of the food, but agreed that we shouldn't have expected anything better at a food court. It was edible sustanence to say the very least.
I was stoked because in the process of getting cash from an ATM, I discovered that my tax return had been directly deposited into my account. Yay! I felt like a rich bitch and splurged a little by supporting the local Girl Scouts who were selling cookies outside of the supermarket. I bought 3 boxes! I almost bought more, but showed just a little restraint for a change.
After lunch we continued our bikeride, reverting south, towards home, and stopping by Richmond Beach for more pictures. I got a flat and changed the tube and was really greatful that my buddy's pump was of the type that can accomdate a Presta valve, because mine does not and I forgot my adapter. FYI: many if not most innertubes on bikes have Shraeder valves, flat, stubby types like those on automobiles, and roadbikes with skinnier wheels have Presta valves, slender, narrower types that are not compatible with certain pumps (like mine) and therefore need an adapter in order to be used by such. If he wasn't with me on this bikeride, I'd have been stuck 15 or so miles from home, footing it until I reached a busline that would have brought me the rest of the way. It would have sucked BIGTIME. But, it didn't because my friend rocks and it's such a blessing, so-to-speak, to have such friends around in times like those/these. Whatever.
The day was just GORGEOUS! It was just beautiful! We coasted down the longass hill to the beach. He took some pictures and I ate some of my Girl Scout cookies and watched some skateboarder kids interact. Socialpsychology/anthropology at it's best! Just kidding. Sort of. In general terms I suppose you'd just say I was 'people watching.' But I'm a nerd. So be it.
THEN we biked back up that longass and rather steep hill and proceded on towards Greenwood where we parted ways and I headed to Fremont while my buddy headed home.
In Fremont I had coffee, then dinner, then dessert at three different places right around the corner from eachother. I love Fremont. It's sort of like the University District, where I live, only more grown up and less ghetto. It's a great place to people watch, dine, and hangout. And it was such a great day to do so, as I've said already!
Finally, I got home after 7 hours of biking all over Seattle and Shoreline, only to discover that the power was out on my block. Weird. The hotline I called only stated that the outage would be fixed, hopefully, by 2am. That's in another 30 mins or so. Some underground havoc or whatever caused the outage and people were working to fix it. So, exhausted, I went to bed. This was at 8pm. 3 1/2 hours later I woke up, knowing full well that I was not going to fall back asleep and decided to go on another adventure in search of free WiFi. Starbucks in the University Village was my best guess, but upon calling them I discovered that it wouldn't be free. Blasted!
Then, I remembered that I still had access to certain parts of campus that would have WiFi at this hour. And here I am!
Now I'm going back home. I've checked my email, paid some bills (that sure fills good) with some of my refund, and need to pee so I'm headin' out.
I hope you have a great week, and if you actually made it this far (reading this post), here's a
because I think YOU ROCK! Thank you for your interest and attention. I'm honored to have had it for the time being.
Have a great week! Peace, joy and love to ya!
