Kind of Blue was THE album for a long time; from its creation in 59 at least until 70 when he did Bitches Brew... Miles was a sad figure as often happens in jazz... he grew backwards for the most part.. but those early years... oh my! I am old enough to have experienced the shift in late late night radio from Cool Jazz to underground rock like the Mothers of Invention and anything with political, social or drug-related references... from "Been Down So Long It Looks Like Up To Me" - a novel about Cornell in the jazz era by Richard Farina (who played a few times at the coffee house i was running), to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter Thompson... with perhaps something by Vonnegut or Michael Moore filling in between...
