Holy cow, have I been busy. If you haven’t been following along on Instagram, I’ve been working on all sorts of things lately. Of course I’ve been doing my fair share of photoshoots, and I planned a photography workshop that @corwinprescott taught last month! The photos that have been rolling in from that have been absolutely awesome. Here’s a few by @ellisia :
I’ve also been doing something that is a touch out of my comfort zone. I started working with a band called the ZOOPY MONSTERS September as a burlesque dancer (we’re called ZOOPY GIRLS!). I’ve been learning choreography, helping with out outfits, and performing with them at shows has been SO MUCH FUN. When I’ve danced in the past, it’s always just been as a freestyle, independent GoGo dancer. This has been a lot more creatively demanding than what I have participated in (dance-wise) in the past, and I’m actually really grateful for it.
This month I’ve also started working on singing some vocals for the band! This is what has really been pushing me outside of my comfort zone, as until a few weeks ago, I hadn’t sang in front of other people for a years. I hadn’t sang on a stage since I can’t even remember when. Not many people know this, but I took vocal lessons when I was younger. I’ve always enjoyed singing, I just got extremely self conscious about it as I got older. I’m so excited to have this new opportunity to push me outside of my boundaries!
Hopefully soon I will have some recordings (I’m recording my first song with the band by next week!) and videos to share with everyone. For now I have some photos from performing with the band.
In the midst of all of that fun, my set that is going into member review has totally snuck up on me!! My second set from the Lisbon Shootfest from about a year ago is finally going into member review on Thursday, November 20! I’m so stoked about this set, and I really hope it goes to the front page. If you can be on the lookout for it to go live, and leave it some love, that would be amazing. :D Look out for “Seeing Stars.”
