Wow! So much has gone on since my last update. Some bad, and some really amazing things have gone on in the past month. I am a little overwhelmed with everything.
In the middle of September my mum came to visit from Washington DC. It was really nice to see her. The last time we got to see each other was in February. Definitely too long to wait! I missed her a ton.
The Tuesday after that, I went up to Austin to shoot some lovely editorial stuff with Sheeanna Singer. Here's a peek at what's to come!:
My Wednesday and Thursday were extremely tumultuous. I lost my little furry ball of love after putting her through surgery. :( I felt a lump in her stomach area on Wednesday, and took her to the vet immediately. They did x-rays and figured out that it as a mass. I took her in for surgery to remove the mass on Thursday night. The cancer had spread to her lymph nodes and had affected her liver. I decided to continue to remove the large mass, so I would at least get one last proper goodbye with her.. When they were stitching her up, she stopped breathing. It's been really really difficult for me. She was my first pet who was really mine. She helped my mum get through her battle with breast cancer since I had already moved away from home. It all happened so fast, too. I miss her so much. She was such a little bundle of joy. Even though she barely weighed a pound and a half, she brought a lot of light into the world. She also made me realize how little time we really have. She was about 5 or 6 years old, which is slightly young for her not being from a ferret farm/mill. I really wish I would've had more time with her. Rest in peace my little Ellie. I love you so much.... I will hopefully be getting her ashes back soon. I'm not sure what I want to do with them yet, but I'd like to do something special with them. I'm going to get a tattoo of her here soon once I recover from the financial burden her surgery was.
Thankfully, I had a lot to look forward to to keep my mind off of things. On Friday, I forced myself to go ahead and go to a shoot that I had been really looking forward to and planning for a while. I'm not sure what we will do with these photos yet, but I want to do something with them! They are better than I ever could have imagined. Raven Red of San Antonio put this together for me. :)
The next thing I have to talk about is the SG Portugal Shootfest! I want to dedicate a whole blog just to the shootfest, and I hope to do so within the next week. I can't wait to share all these awesome stories and photos. :3
Until then...
