My next THREE reads! I've already worked my way through a few book series this year, but the roulette decided it was time for me to read another one.
What we have here, are the three first books in the crime series featuring Detective Jessica Niemi, written by Finnish author Max Seeck. There is technically a fourth book too, but I got the Norwegian translation of the first three at a Norwegian bookstore. The fourth one hasn't come out yet in Norway, although I might just go ahead and get the English translation eventually, since it's either way going to be a translation from Finnish.
The books are, roughly summarized:
1. Heksejakt (aka The Witch Hunter)
The wife of a bestselling author is found dead, her face frozen in a horrific smile. Jessica Niemi finds that there seems to be a cult behind the murder.
2. Jenta Under Isen (aka The Ice Coven)
Niemi investigates a marked body and missing influencers tied to a cult in Finland.
3. Djevelpakten (aka The Last Grudge)
Jessica Niemi confronts her past while investigating a businessman's murder in Helsinki. Dark connections emerge, revealing that an old threat is back.
Just from the descriptions, I am getting the sense that these books are a hybrid of stand-alone mysteries and a continued, larger arc, especially since all three of them seem to explore cultism. It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out!
