How is October treating everybody? I've continued to have some ups and downs; I love the Halloween season, but as Norway is headed into darker times overall, it can mess with my mental health a little. Pretty sure that on top of everything else, I have SAD. But we do our best to hang in there, don't we?
I've tried to stay busy with my usual activities lately: Writing, reading, going live on TikTok (I'm gonna stream a little bit after I post this, so feel free to click HERE to join me!), going for walks, hanging out with the sobriety group A-Larm, and watching a horror movie daily throughout all of October.
Last week, I mentioned which movies I had seen so far, so maybe I should keep up that trend! Between October 4th and yesterday (as I haven't picked a movie today yet), I watched the following:
Mind Body Spirit (2023)
Basically a found footage movie about haunted yoga. That's the best way to explain it. Not bad, but not perfect either.
Deadware (2021)
A very short found footage movie about the early stages of online video chats and browser games. This one could definitely have been expanded upon.
Burnt Offerings (1976)
An adaptation of the book by the same name. Preceded movies like The Shining and The Amityville Horror by a few years, but one could say it has a similar vibe.
Late Night With the Devil (2024)
This one was pretty cool. Made to look like the 1970s, with the setting being a talk show host who wants to be Johnny Carson but is more like Jerry Springer, and then some spooky stuff happens.
The Demon Disorder (2024)
I wanted to like this more than I did. One setback was that someone on Facebook basically spoiled it for me. I pretty much post a "now watching" update on Facebook and Instagram every time I have chosen a movie for the day, and someone posted what the movie is supposed to symbolize. I would have liked to figure that out on my own.
The Front Room (2024)
Remember Brandy Norwood from Moesha and I Still Know What You Did Last Summer? She's the star of this bizarre movie, and she does pretty well considering what she has to work with.
Who else has watched horror movies so far in October? What have you done otherwise? Been reading anything interesting? Been going for walks and seen some interesting sights? Discovered a new TV show or video game that you are hooked on? Feel free to tell me in the comments! And also, let's celebrate the first single from Dream Theater to come out after Mike Portnoy has returned!
