Man! Boss #1 just ain't around the office a whole lot this week. Yes!

Great boss, it's just one of those things where the workload lightens when he's out, and the overall mood in the office is up.

smile

New column up, by the way... robot

We're friends now and it appears we like lots of the same things. (daniel clowes, evil beaver, le tigre, weed, etc.) Yay! How'd you find me?

Sweet Christ, it's beautiful out today. I got two bosses that I report to, and Boss #1 is out today, that meant a nice long lunch with no rush to get back.

A movie is filming today right outside my office. The Weather Man, starring Nicolas Cage. They made up fake snow, and fog machines were going to simulate winter. I didn't see anyone of...

I was watching some NCAA b-ball tournament action this weekend, and I was totally shocked by the music in a commercial I saw. In an automobile ad for KIA with OnStar, the music was from a Dearborn, Michigan band called Pas/Cal (mentioned in the March 2004 SPIN, in the Von Bondies article).

I met Pas/Cal a year ago here in Chicago when my roommate had...

Did I ever tell you how much I hate Ticketmaster (using the word "master" in their name is no accident, by the way)???

I begrudgingly bought a ticket today to see the Thrills April 16th at the Metro in Chicago (Begrudgingly, in that I had to do it online). The ticket itself was $15, but because I had to order online (because I didn't know...

If I didn't express this before, allow me now to inform you that I'm a huge Wonder Woman fan. If my picture wasn't a good tip-off, I am a card-carrying comic book geek.
I ran across this today and thought it was too damn sweet.

Voting time here in Illinois. Not that I'm worried about voting for Kerry, because his nomination is a done deal. But we got a full-blown senatorial race going, and I gots ta vote for the Democrats. smile

Last week I got a new Suicide Girls t-shirt, and it's awesome. Only thing that was disappointing was that the string for the seam that goes around the length...

Well, there's a column I do, and I got a new one up today: I think this covers things this week.

I usually visit SG to decompress, because I write and deal with people during the day. So I don't exactly come here to blab, but perhaps that'll change if I start mixing it up with more of the SG community. We'll see. wink

The Reverend's Show Got a new column up. I cover some comic book/toy stuff for my own personal interests, but I hit on the Chimp's war on gay marriage, The O.C., the Cubs, and all kinds of other shit.
ojaeflo:
Sunday night I went to a show at the Metro (the Chicago stop of the SG Burlesque Show three nights earlier) with a couple buddies to see a handful of metal/grindcore acts [Dead To Fall w/ The Killer, Somehow Hollow, Hewhocorrupts, and Fordirelifsake].

The band we were there to see, Hewhocorrupts, was first, thankfully. It was hilarious, they introduced the band with the same music and pomp & circumstance that they use to introduce the starting lineup of the Chicago Bulls at the United Center. Except for one guitarist, the band was all in red shirts with black ties and slacks. But two songs into the show, most of the guys were down to their skivvies in a high energy show. No one ever stripped down to nothing or anything, no cocks were whipped out, or bums on display. Strictly down to boxer briefs.

Lo & behold, turns out the Metro got shitty with the band halfway through their 20 minute set about their state of undress, and they had to at least put pants back on. This from the same venue that featured the SG Burlesque Show that same week. Metro's way too puritanical for metal that hardcore, and we bailed as soon as Hewhocorrupts wrapped their set. That shit was lame, because Hewhocorrupts was on. Fuckers...
