My birthday is Wednesday. I am not sure what I think about that. It's the first birthday I have ever had that I am not particularly looking forward to. In the past couple weeks my brain has suddenly moved from "I am accomplished for my age! I have a great job! I have great friends!" to "ZOMG!! I am going to be in my late 20's! I still have credit card debt from college! I don't own a house and don't have the credit to buy one if I wanted to! I am sick of everyone around me getting married and having babies! How am I already 26?!? There are serious things I need to do ASAP!"
On the marriage and babies note - no...this does not mean I want either...it just means that I realized I am reaching the age where it is normal for people to do these things...which is making me feel like I should be more mature than I currently am. So, no worries, I am not about to become psycho husband hunter Ash. Whenever I start to think I am missing something, I remind myself that my favorite cousin is 32...has an awesome life...has tons of friends and tons of fun...is gorgeous...and is completely single with no children...just her kitties. Life is all about what you make of it.
The Mom and The Brother were in town for a wedding this weekend. Mom came on Saturday and stayed the night. It was relatively uneventful except for her yappy little dog going nutty over every noise. There are many reasons I LOVE Huskies. Near the top of the list is that they are a breed that barks VERY rarely. Constant barking makes Ash crazy. The Brother and his girlfriend came over to hang out on Sunday. She lives here, he lives in Florida. So, I can see her anytime I would like, but I haven't seen him since Christmas. So, we hung out for a while until they had to go home to make out and say goodbye since he headed back to Florida today. I am definitely planning on taking a long weekend to go visit him this winter. Last winter was just too long for my tastes. I will need a little dose of warm and sunshine this winter.
I have a student in one of my programs at work who is making me effin' insane. I just need to bitch about her for a minute in a place I know she will NEVER see it. She has failed 2 sections of the class. She is always losing materials or parking passes. She always stops by my office to see if the materials have come in early so she can get them before everyone else. Basically she is world's biggest pain in the ass. Now she is demanding a grade distribution scale so she can see how the others have done. She feels the course is unfair and too hard and that we are evil taskmasters. I thought for a minute about sending it to her, then decided, no...no...she can sit and stew and be pissed. My course is GOOD. It's great even. My group's pass rate is higher than any group in the country right now. I design good programs. She is actually the ONLY person in this year's group who has failed a single section. So, since my director told me on my annual review that I had to learn when to say no and stand up for myself, I am starting here. No, crazy old lady, you cannot have anything else from me. Period.
I hope everyone has a great week. I will be around minimally again starting Thursday...classes start up again Wednesday and I always end up super busy.
