Yet another weekend was spent in Cleveland. This time it was with all of my best guy friends from college. I lived, worked, and played with these people for 4 years. This past weekend was awesome. Yesterday we had a long time during the day with just the original group...me, Adrian, Sam, Bryan, Buck. I just felt incredibly happy and loved. I've never had to wonder if they're my true friends. Never been worried about losing them. Never had to be anything but 100% myself.
We laid around the pool and BBQed and caught up. My scary-pasty white-girl legs got a little bit of sun. Played some cornhole and some cards. I felt "home". I am starting to wonder if where you are isn't nearly as important as who you are with while you're there. The only things keeping me in Columbus anymore are my job and my lease. My friend Aggie has a spare room open...she spent about an hour yesterday trying to convince me that Cleveland is where I need to be. My other best friend from college, Meghan, who was not involved with this particular group, so I didn't see her yesterday, also offered me a room in her house and suggested I get my ass up there. Everytime I'm up there...whether it's with DevilsReject (or the other SG folks I hang out with there!), Meghan, or the boys, coming home to Columbus gets harder and harder. We shall see what happens with my raise/promotion in October and the new management I am under and if things end up going in a direction that I no longer agree with, it may be time to start planning a move. Both Cleveland State and Baldwin Wallace have event planning jobs open right now. Jobs that I know I could get. We shall see... I do know that I am not brave enough to move without having a job, apartment, and plan lined up.
Anywho...later in the night a whole massive group of people ended up coming over. There were probably about 40 people there at the height of the party. I met the creepiest man alive who went on a 20 minute tangent about how he only looks for pregnant or lactating women because breast milk is so tasty.
I thought I had met creepy before...nope...this guy won.
Then we had "The Stuntman" performed for us. Mikey, who is someone fairly new to our little group and an ex-Marine does this absolutely ridiculous and painful stunt where rather than take a traditional tequila shot (lick the salt, take the shot, bite the lemon), he changes it up so that he snorts the salt, takes the shot, then shoots the lemon in his eye. Yes, I have video of it.
Coley, Aggie, and I spent the majority of the night hiding from creepy man and just chatting about man-troubles and shopping and job/school pressures and our goals. It was excellent. Plus, they're just lovely ladies to be around.
Around midnight I got a sudden migraine that knocked me on my ass. I was fighting it and trying to stay awake to hang out more, but Buck and Bryan took me up to Bry's room, tucked me in, and told me to keep my ass in bed. One of them came in to check on me every so often. They're really sweet guys. I adore them both. Bry came in at 2am or so, woke me up, at which point I promptly had to throw up because the pain was too bad, he gave me some medicine and gave up his bed to me for the night.
We all woke up this morning, went and gorged ourselves on IHOP and then headed back to our prospective places.
Other than that, this past week I had a conference in town, so I was really busy with that. Plus, I had my annual review with our new director. She gave me an "exceeds expected performance" rating, which surprised me, since she and I have butted heads on some things, but I get the impression that even though she's a hardass who is turning our office upside down, that she's fair.
The coming weekend is still up in the air. I may end up back in Cleveland or I may stay here and attend a wine-tasting event at Spice Bar that Trickynicki is promoting. (GO! Seriously! She needs people to show up...plus wine is tasty!!)
Have a nice week lovelies.
Havana is coming up soon, and I have decided to go, so I will be seeing some of you there!
