Well, I'm in my new apartment. It's pretty darn comfy. I am overall very happy with it.
Got my keys Friday and came to look at the apartment. On my doorstep was a package from my friend Sam with a Sammy mix CD inside and a really nice letter.
The move went extremely smoothly. I still have a few things that I'm searching for and trying to figure out where they went...but if I can't find it, that's okay. Total, packing up old house, travel time, and unloading at the new house it only took about 4 hours...then we had some shopping to do. Trickynicki came over for a bit yesterday and helped with some unpacking and waited for the cable guy while I went shopping. Thanks, love! You were super helpful!
I had one moment of hysterics yesterday. I left Jon's house...the cat is crying hysterically in his kitty carrier. He had an accident because he was so scared, I was overwhelmed and I started crying. Anyone driving beside me would have thought I was nuts. Tears were streaming down my face and I just kept repeating "You're super Ash...you're super Ash...you're gonna be okay" to myself over and over again. I was fine by the time I got to the new apartment.
I had temper tantrums over my internet last night. I thought I'd just be able to plug it in and magic would happen. I ended up having to reset...turn off...turn on...well, it took a while. Haha. But I'm back on today. I had planned on setting up my wireless router, but...well...I have no idea how to make it safe. So, that'll wait until someone who can is here to help me.
I had a great first night in my apartment. I slept like a rock which was surprising, but pleasant. I figured I'd be awake forever pacing around. I laid down and just dozed right off.
I had 4 lovely firemen just visit my apartment too. Making my first dinner...I think the smoke alarm is going off, so I turn the oven hood fan on and go wave a towel in front of the smoke alarm. It won't shut up. I can't figure it out because there wasn't any smoke. Yeah...Ash didn't realize she had a carbon monoxide detector. That was what was going off. So, the nice firemen came, tested the apartment and their little machines read zero...so they said I was safe.
I have one complaint...that being that my showerhead is getting no pressure. It is literally a dribble. I could probably shower faster in the kitchen sink, but I'll put a call into maintanence tomorrow to get that fixed. I'll take a bath tonight.
It's quiet here. Very quiet. The occassional door slamming or car driving past is all I hear. Well, that and Dirty Jobs. I think I'll be happy here.
I got almost completely unpacked today. I have 2 more boxes to do and I need to go buy some more hangers so I can hang up all my clothes. They're just lumped in hampers and laundry baskets in the closet right now.
Kitty appears to be largely recovered, but the firemen scared him back under the bed. As soon as he realizes they aren't coming back, he'll pop out again.
I'm tired and will probably hit the bed early tonight.
