Summary of the 7th Chapter of a Book, an Assortment of Books, a Library (of Contradictory Texts) Entitled “How to be Alive, a Self-Help Guide for the Dead”
In order to build a soul from
Noise and paper squares
You’ve got to fail
And to find each failure fascinating.
And to train the subconscious
Busted-up ferris wheel to reset itself
At a higher level than it
Tended to before.
There will always be dipshits.
They will be cranky.
They will say something coarse.
They’re very upset
And well they should be!
For the world keeps forgetting to
Embody their ideals.
There will be successes and failures
And occasionally there will
Be moments of giggida joy and sorrow
And even on the worst of all
possible mornings, in the worst of all possible years
In the worst of all possible lives
The actual success will be that you
Have more frequent moments
Of completely irrational hopefulness in your life
Than you would’ve otherwise.
