So, for the @bloghomework this week, @rambo and @vixen asked what our favorite TV shows are/is and I instantly knew the answer. Grey's Anatomy.
I remember it starting in 2005 just as I was about to enter high school and with all of the sex and romance that the show involved, I remember how mad my mother would get at me for watching it. Even though yes, there was (and still is) a lot of sex and a TON of hot doctors, that's not what drew me into the show. It starts out with 5 people, entering a brand new place knowing absolutely no one. It's exactly how I felt about entering high school. I had a small group of friends and we were all about to embark on a new journey where no one knew where we would end up. The one thing we did know is that we would be there TOGETHER. So every week I tuned in, eager to see how they both individually and as a group managed to get through every obstacle thrown at them. I was in love with how real the show became to me. I remember using references from the show in everyday conversation and my friends would look at me like I was crazy, and that's when I knew that Grey's was more than just a show to me. It was becoming a party of my life. Every episode always seemed to revolve around one lesson about life, just when I needed some guidance. It baffled me that how much this show about crazy, sex-craved doctors and their everyday struggles whether personal or in the hospital was teaching me about myself.
In my mind a great TV show should instantly grab your attention, maybe teach you a lesson or two about life, and be something you're eager watch week in and week out. Or hell, even restart from the beginning to re-live the experience all over again. No matter where I live, who I'm friends with, or what I'm doing with life, Grey's Anatomy will always make me feel like I'm home.
