"This is where it starts..."
I always think it's very interesting how a new shot of an artist can get you excited about them all over again.
I had just retired my Marilyn Manson play list (only the play list, my adoration for his artistry is ever present) when access to previews of 'Heart Shaped Glasses (When The Heart Guides The Hand)' and 'If I Was Your Vampire' became available. As a result, my recently retired play list was recommissioned and given a couple of new additions. This process is a lot like Manson's own 'retirement' from music and recent return. I love the new songs, I can really hear the progression from where he used to be personally and musically to where he is now. I can see a lot of 'old school' fans falling out of love with this newest album (if the rest of the songs are of a simular style), but I for one adore this new direction in his music.
I spent the last couple of days trawling YouTube for all sorts of Manson videos. I'm re-obsessed. I quite love the feeling. I've never seen Marilyn Manson live. I was too young last time he came out (by under a month) so I had to make do with Rage's music video special. This time, I can hope that he comes out to Australia and doesn't skip my shit hole of a city, if he comes I will be able to see him. I will not be able to stand knowing I missed out on seeing one of the greater artists of this era perform live.
