I've been meaning to write about this for a while but its taken me forever to get around to putting the hundreds of photos I took onto my laptop.
Some of you may know, I am a HUUUUGE fan of the TV show F.R.I.E.N.D.S
It's been my saviour, my life force, the source of my humour, a catalyst for the person I am today. I'm on the autistic spectrum and Friends really brings it out in me. Dull, right? I have genius level IQ and whilst some autistics are able to recite Pi to its thousandth decimal or paint detailed buildings from an image in their head, I can recite every line to every episode of all ten seasons. I know when the canned laughter comes in and the tiny little bits of music inbetween scenes. It's lame. But I adore it.
As a teenager I bought every DVD boxset as they came out. Each season was a different colour and when you put them all together it spelled out "friends". I'd put a dvd in every night to fall asleep to. I still cry every time Rachel gets off the plane.
So when my aunt told me she had a ticket for friendsfest I nearly died.
For those who don't know, Friendsfest was an event hosted by ComedyCentral where they had replicas of some of the sets, Monica's apartment, Joey and Chandler's living room, the diner Monica worked at with the fake boobs and the dancing on the counter top was an actual diner where you could eat at the event. You could re-enact the opening scene with umbrellas and a big sofa, they even had Central Perk with the stage set up for Phoebe's incredible singing. They also had a big stage set up for people to go up and do Smelly Cat karaoke and pop quizzes.
IT.WAS.THE.BEST.
So, a day trip to London with my sister and my aunt (both of whom are also massive fans). We got to the park and as you go in to the massive field there was a few food stands serving Mockolate milkshakes and hot Mockolate and other friends related food stuffs. 10/10 would recommend a mockolate milkshake.
First off we decided to check out Joey and Chandler's apartment.
I sat in the canoe, played foosball with my sister (who told me that spinning is apparently against the rules, er.. since when?) and even sat in the barcalounger and re-enacted, for my own personal fangirl moment, the episode where Phoebe and Chandler do "you yellow bellied, lily livered..DRAW" and failed miserably as I realised the handle on the chair was super stiff and my draw was severely delayed. I'll upload that video separately if you wish to watch my embarrass myself.
Next stop was CENTRAL PERK BABY
My sister and I nerded out and recreated the scene where Ross tries to punch Joey and he ducks and Ross punches the pole. Losers, I know.
Being in here was the weirdest and coolest thing. Except all the props were stuck down which was so lame, but I completely get it. Definitely would have stolen something.
Next stop, the fountain! My aunt and I tried to steal an umbrella but they were really tricky to hide down my waistband.
Being in this apartment was the most surreal thing I have ever done. See if you can guess which moments I am pathetically recreating.
Nearly lost my shit standing next to this door. Seriously.
Bonus points to anyone who can tell me what these are :P
And anyone who can tell me what this is. No plate throwing.
Lastly, we stopped off for a quick wedding picture at the Las Vegas Chapel
Makeup was not compulsory, I told my aunt we had to.
Oh, and a quick boogie at Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve
*BOYS are nothing but trouble*
I am not as flexible as I used to be.
Anyway! So now you know more than you probably did about me, and probably lowered your opinion of me too. Le Sigh. I am the lamest kind of nerd. It was the best day of my LIFE
@missy @rambo @lyxzen are you friends fans??
