I'm all moved but not all unpacked.
I do not have any birthday festivities planned for this weekend (even though I thought I would) because Mr Boyfriend ended up having to work this weekend as well as late on my birthday. But he did surprise me with a cake on my birthday. And since we were still in the studio at that point, he made me hide in the bathroom while he got the cake and candles ready. And he put the candles in hamburger buns next to the cake so he didn't have to ruin the top of the cake (it had this hard layer of chocolate on top). The problem with the ingenious bun-candle maneuver (that sounds dirty...) was that it made the candles too far apart to blow out on one breath, especially for a girl with a cold.
So here I am now in a 1-bedroom apartment. Wow. But we really don't have enough storage space here, kitchen-wise or clothes-wise. For the kitchen I want a heavy-duty shelf unit, strong enough to hold all the cast iron we have and then more. And maybe we need some sort of wardrobe.
I did go to the Union Square market today. Woohoo. I got potted herbs (basil, sage, rosemary) for my kitchen window (the kitchen has a window, I love it), garlic, a bunch of cut basil, arugula, green beans, potatoes, apples, plums, and a pound of organic dirt.
This apartment is pretty sweet. Lots of bright, indirect light, with direct light in the morning. City view with sky (and if you look left and kind of lean over you can see the Hudson). My favorite thing is the bedroom, though. Coming from a studio, nothing could be sweeter.
So, basically, I got an apartment for my birthday. Now I just need to find my job.
