This guy sounds like a lame-ass free loader. I actually found myself a bit angry after reading your entry. I know the situation all to well. It's a shitty one to be in, and it sucks that you are probably going to have to be the one to put your foot down and take the incentive to change things. Maybe pull your housemate aside when he's not around and tell her that the situation has just become ridiculous and you can't live this way. If she has any compassion for you, she will understand how this is making you feel uncomfortable in your own home. I'm sure she probably doesn't like that she is being used either. Is she a very passive woman? Perhaps she's afraid to stand up to him. Sounds to me like a house meeting should happen soon. If nothing comes of it, maybe it's time to play dirty. Change the locks so he can't get in. I'm sure there are a lot of steps that can be taken to prevent this guy from coming around if he's really not welcome. I hope everything works out! Best of luck!

i have a friend at uni who's house is full of freeloading arseholes. he's such a nice guy though, he doesn't see them as taking advantage - he pays full rent for the house, pays all the bills, buys all the food and is the only on with a job.
i have to say in that instance we did forcefully eject one of the squatters. we decided he was too much of a prick to stay. (I.e. attempted rape.)
