Sooooooo.. as my first official blog entry ever (no I don't live in a bubble, just oober busy all the time!). I must admit that I'm not too creative and don't really talk much about myself because it makes me feel like a self centered braggart and what not. We'll see how it goes though... feedback may be helpful in such a situation, but not necessary.
But anyways, I just finished my first year of college, I'm a biochemistry major and I'm doing research on bacteria. I went to my first concert at Darien Lake - ozzfest (have been to tons at i think its still called Mars Music Ampitheater - formerly Coral Sky and Sound Advice - in West Palm Beach, FL) and the crowd kinda, well, has NO enthusiasm.. I was a bit disappointed. I was also surprised at how small it was, the main stage didn't even look permanant with the canvas circus tent lookin thing over it - not the size that matters though its the energy surrounding it. I'm guessing we'll have to go scouting for enthusiastic concert goers to populate upstate NY with! ORRR get some SG members out there.. I'm sure that may liven up the party - based on what I've seen in the forums, reading a few blogs and in the chat.
Other than that, nothing too exciting has been happening with me, am living in an on campus appartment (which is much nicer than dorm life) I have space to move!! And getting paid to do research. Right now I've basically already finished characterizing my bacterial enzyme and am just wrapping up loose ends now. Will start to characterize a yeast enzyme in the fall (a few weeks) which should be exiciting because no one has found its substrate even after 20+ years of looking - hopefully I'll get lucky!!! Anddddddd .. hmm what else is going on here.. yeah lol not a whole lot. There's exactly a month before classes begin (and I'm looknig forward to it), but in the mean time, I have 2 more weeks of paid research, a week of training and a week of being an Orientation Assistant to help freshies get acquainted with the school - hoping it will be tons of good times, meeting new people and all!
Oh, how could I forget! I've been looking foreward to seeing it every year and I always seem to miss it, but I finally got to watch shark week on discovery! haha, I think it may have been the highlight of my week! Sorry, am a bit nerdy when it comes to sciency, nature and especially ocean stuff!
That's about all I can think of that's current for now, have fun until I update again!

isn't it cool when you get paid to do what you like before you even finish college? i got hired on as my painting profs assistant for a 2 month trip out west while working on installation pieces the whole way there... it was great.
hope with you being as busy as you are that we'll still see you out at some Upstate events.
