Growing up in the 90's was great. Amazing cartoons, all the fun-dip you could ask for, moon-boots, the list goes on. And like all young girls, I had a soft spot in my heart for a few fictional characters.
While I feel most girls were losing their minds over the Backstreet Boys, my tastes were a little more . . . nerdy. So without further adieu, here is my list of first loves!
1. Tuxedo Mask
What's not to love? Tall, handsome, mysterious, always throwing roses and saving the day. I've had the biggest crush on this bishounen babe for as long as I can remember.
2. Link (The Hero of Time)
This one might be a bit weird. Having a crush on the mute elf-boy who prances around with a fairy, but hear me out. He's caring, adventurous, and smart. He takes the time to help people with their everyday troubles even though he's got bigger fish to fry. And the graphics in Ocarina of Time we're pretty great for this era.
3. Cloud Strife
Do I even need to say why? Babe. Total babe. He still is. Also, who's stoked for the FF7 reboot where Cloud doesn't look like he's made of clay blobs? BABE!
4. Dante
Snarky, badass, glorious white hair. Dante is still one of my favourite video game characters of all time. (Anyone remember that godawful anime they made for DmC?) As I grew older I seemed to get more attached to characters who gave no fucks.
5. Aragorn
My older brothers used to read me The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings all the time, and even though I couldn't really understand it then, I still fell head over heels for Strider. When the movies came out I only fell harder. He's handsome, courageous, runs from his problems, and has giant commitment issues. . . yeah.
