a wise woman i once called a mother said this:
"hate is having intense emotional feelings about someone because of the qualities that they possess and you don't like. love, in contrast, is having intense emotional feelings about someone *in spite of* the qualitiies that they possess and you don't like."

funny how i can see the bright side of these matters
