I am and shall always be a fan of H.P. Lovecraft. This poem is at best a very bad tribute to him and the MYTHOS. If you know it I hope you enjoy it. If you don't, then I hope you get intrigued enough to check it out.
Mulish by trade
I tread the arcane path
Ne'er one to the mundane
My studies traveled abroad
Beneath and within
What lies for surface and sanity
Seeking what no man had right
Yet my soul found its purpose
The years showed me the way
Books and scribblings of madmen
Toyed with my very sanity
Lest my good sense betray
I tarried not in hindsight
For this I brought about my damnation
That night
That night
The ebone blade that pierced my breast
Shuffled with out haste
Sunken neath the shores
I entered R'lyeh
His ancient form slumbers
Time is but illusion
Eldritch machinations
Long lost to us
Stored in dusty tomes
The day they walk again
My mind unhinged
The gigantic mass
Tentacles of rot and earth
Moved to the oceans rythm
Trapped to witness madness
When I could handle no more
The prayer of my fathers
Fell from my lips
And great Cthulhu stirred
One eye looked upon me
I was creation
I was chaos
I was the coldness of the cosmos
All that could and would be unfathomable
I became
My scream a testament to horror
Lips frozen of their own accord
The very soul of my body
Shrieked for release
And he slept
Seized in heart
I awoke from the dream
Chilled beyond bone
The daylight washed my form
For few precious moments my heart calmed
But I knew
His great eye
I languish for my lost ignorance
I see
I see
In the watery grave of R'lyeh
The old one sleeps
Yet that eye
That eye
