Apparently I'm the master of procrastination...
For the past six weeks I have been down in Louisiana, working at the worst Renaissance Faire in the country. Well, it might not be the worst in the country, but it's the worst I've been to yet. I won't bore you with the details.
But New Orleans is a seductively appealing city. I saw Miss Amber Dawn down there (the girl I was bitching about in my last entry). She's living in NO, has got a nice job, and seems to still think I'm cool enough to hang out with.
Groovy.
Now I'm back on Cape Cod, and the drive up here was long and painful. The seat in my crap van doesn't recline, so my lower back is a rock right now. (Did you ever notice that people from New England, especially men, are Champion Complainers?)
In other news, there's a young lady here on the Cape who obviously must have something awry in her head, because she wants to be my "steady sweetie". Her name is Renee, and I think she's funny, pretty, smart, interesting, etc.
The strange thing is, she's a straight edge, and I'm most decidedly NOT. I'm going to quit smoking (just the ciggys) for the time that I'm dating her, so she doesn't have to feel like she's kissing an ashtray.
Damn, this is running long.
Another odd thing about this situation is that she's 20-years-old. Twelve years younger than me. Lately I've been attracting ladies who are much younger than me (sometimes MUCH younger than me... but that story is not for public consumption), and I can't figure out why. Do I act younger than I am? Do I just have a youthful look about me? I certainly hope I'm not one of those idiot 30-something guys who still looks and acts like a teenager.
Maybe it's because all the women who are my age have decent responsible jobs and houses and lives... and I don't really live in that world.
I don't know who(m?) I'm expecting will read this, but anyone who has any thoughts on why young ladies go for older guys, or why younger women seem to find me in particular, let me know. I'm keen to hear other people's thoughts on it.
Thanks for tolerating my ramblings.
