Hey all! Happy Easter, Passover, Spring Festival or what have you. I've been in Chicago for a bit, catching up with the family and my office job. It's been good. Good to reconnect with things here, good to get out of L.A. and just good to change my environment for a while. In fact I have to say the past week is probably the best week I've had so far this year.
I ate yesterday at Birchwood Kitchen, one off my favorite new breakfast places in Chicago, with my aunt and two of my brothers. I consumed this amazing meal of Illinois ham, biscuit with apricot jam, egg over easy and green salad:
Speaking of food, today I spent the day prepping for my Dad's Easter dinner which is always a sumptuous affair. (Odd for a rabid atheist like my Dad to make a big deal of Easter dinner, but there you have it.) Here's a preview of the menu for tonight. I hope it makes you just a little jealous.
I realize this is Easter, not Thanksgiving, but I'm nonetheless feeling pretty thankful today. Thankful for my family and my friends, all of whom have been very good to me when I needed it. I'm thankful for being healthy and having a pretty darn good life. And all the things I want, or want out of life, are things that I can work towards. Life is good, I say. I'm looking forward to getting back to L.A. and living it.
Yes, I'm full of love and am going to try and keep it that way. That doesn't mean I'm going to stop being a snarky bastard--but it will be well meaning snark from a loving heart. For the most part.
I get back home on Monday and look forward to seeing my L.A. friends again soon. I hope all of you out there are well and happy.

p.s. Why isn't "food" one of the possible blog categories on SG? It really should be.

I'm pretty sure it would be a crime against my DNA if I didn't love everything you just listed.
