One huge problem I have with winter in L.A. is that it's impossible to truly enjoy a hot chocolate or mocha out here. For complete satisfaction with piping hot drinks of milk and chocolate, it's got to be biting cold outside. Only then does the true reinvigorating dark deliciousness of the combo really make itself felt in a warm wave radiating from your middle to your frost-bitten extremities. I picture a specialty hot chocolate salon in L.A. located in an old meat locker. You're given a winter coat on the way in and have to wait at least 20 minutes before being served, by which time the patron will be properly chilled for maximum beverage enjoyment. Hey, if they can have oxygen bars in Tokyo this isn't that much of a stretch.
Today is a Magnetic Fields day for me. I did a little searching for work from them I haven't heard before and found these two little gems. First, a cover of "Heroes":
And another example of the mordantly funny little ditties that Mr. Merritt is so good at:
That's all I got for now. I'll leave you all with a little photo I stole from Koleeta's FB page of she and I shenanigizing at her b-day outing last weekend. (A cute photo, though though it catches my face in a particularly pear-shaped mode.) I hope all is well with y'all out there.
