Hi folks! You all might not have seen me in a while. That's becuase I recently started a quickly-planned 2-week bicycle excursion down the west coast.
I wanted some time away to clear my head and have a little adventure on the way. I started on Saturday from Portland, OR, and bicycled 30 (hung-over) miles to Vernonia. Sunday it was on to Astoria though the Oregon countryside and some beautiful, deep and primeval forests. I'm spending today in the old port town of Astoria, doing some office work and looking for a camping stove. Tomorrow I'll be on my way down the coast, wandering into small towns and righting wrongs with my knowledge of kung-fu. Hopefully I'll be in San Francisco by the weekend after next and can find some agreeable people to hoist a beer with before I fly back to L.A.
So far, I've had a great time. And Astoria itself is a great town to spend a day in. Here was the view across the bay as I rolled into town:

Kinda nice, huh? My internet contact will be intermittent, but I'll update the story of my epic journey as often as I can here and on twitter. I hope all of you stay well while I'm gone. I look forward to socializing and beverage-quaffing with you soon.

That sounds like a fantastic trip. It's great cycling country and this must be just about the perfect time of year to be up there. Enjoy it!
