Ok ... things are slowed down for a couple days, at least.
After Roman's birthday, it was just lots of work for a few days.
Saturday night, CJ asked me to cater a dinner with him at some gigantor mansion up around Bel Air in the hills. Pretty amazing place; one of those kinds of places with a gate and a 40-foot wide fountain in front and their own tennis courts and they use golf carts to get around the property because it takes forever to walk it. Pretty amazing. I mean, I've been around rich people before, but this was ridiculous. Anyways, I guess the exiled king of Greece was there for the dinner. So I guess I've cooked for royalty, now, which is pretty cool.
After that, I met up with T and Roman, who were out with some pretty intense characters. It was a guy who was buying one of Roman's paintings, and these twin girls he knows from Ireland. I didn't realize they were twins at first: one of them had so much plastic surgery she looked and acted like a porno Barbie doll. Her twin sister, who didn't seem to have had any plastic surgery, was quite cute, actually.
Anyways, we stayed up til about 5am, drinking and bullshitting and such. Since I'd been awake for 24 hours at that point, I decided against driving home and crashed on Roman's couch. He and I woke up around noon and fixated on Wii Bowling for several hours before T finally woke up and we commenced our day of drinking (although, of course, Roman and I had started in on some beers as soon as we started bowling, actually).
Monday morning I had to be at the new restaurant around 10am. Spent a couple hours there going over things, then on to the old job for the rest of the day. Same drill Tuesday. The schedule is to be fully open by Monday the 26th. I'm hopeful we'll make it, but it's still a little dependent on some final inspections and things.
We finally hired a new head chef at my old job, he started yesterday, so I spent most of the day going over all the administrative BS part of the job with him. Tonight we've got a 50-person party to deal with, so it's going to be a hectic day, but -- IT'S MY LAST FULL TIME DAY AT THE HOTEL!!
Very excited. So ready to be out of there. I'm still going to be in and out of the place over the next few weeks, 2 or 3 times a week, to make sure he's clear on everything, and also because the front of the house lost their manager, and although they have an assistant manager, she's new at the job and doesn't work full time anyway, so she's struggling to keep up with everything. So I'll be around helping them out, too.
Which is fine by me, because I can always use the extra money.
So, that's the update.
Hot!
