Work's a drag, but I won't bore you with that. Well, it's not actually all that boring, but it's still not worth the detail.
I really, really hope I get this new job I'm going for.
Last night, I got home from work around 6pm, just as Henry was setting the table for Christmas dinner. I thought I was going to miss it entirely, and have to make do with cold leftovers, but I was just in time.
They had presents under the tree for me, too, which was awesome.
If you aren't aware, Henry's daughter is here from Berlin, where she lives with her mom. She's 3 years old. His dad is here from San Antonio, by himself, as Henry's mother passed away shortly before Thanksgiving. And his girlfriend was here as well.
It's weird ... it's not really my family, but it felt like one. It was nice to be a part of one for a holiday.
That was the first Christmas dinner I've had in 3 years.
When I got home from work, Hazel was very excited and wanted to help me unwrap my presents that had been sitting under the Christmas tree all day while I was working. Everyone had bought me things ... I was really surprised, and it was really fun.
And dinner was great. We had turkey and stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed sweet potatoes, glazed carrots, green beans with bacon, fruit salad, deviled eggs, and apple pie with ice cream.
Then we sat up drinking wine and listening to Gordon Lightfoot, Simon & Garfunkel, Willie Nelson, the Paladins.... We get good music around here.
That was a great Christmas.

Haven't had a proper xmas/birthday celebration since Dec 2005. I know it does suck.
New job? New restaurant...?
