I think I've spent more time in the last 3 weeks housesitting for my friend than I have staying at my place.

Really, though, that's fine -- he's got a nice big house on the side of the mountain in Los Feliz, and I'm in a nice but cramped apartment by the beach in Santa Monica. Also, his place is closer to work for me, laundry is free, and he has 2 really fun dogs I get to play with.

And he's got cable and a TiVO, and I have neither of those things. And a huge kitchen (big fun for me).

He asked me to stay over again for like 10 days, week after next. I think I'm gonna have a barbecue. He bought a turntable recently, too, which sparked both of us to do some record shopping (which I couldn't really afford, but did anyway).

I just got home for the first time since Friday. He called that afternoon asking if I could watch the place over the weekend while he and his girlfriend took a trip up the coast, so I did, and then I bailed Monday to run out to Palm Springs to see some friends from Texas who came out for Coachella, and had rented a really swank house in PS for the week they were here. So we sat around by the pool, cooking, drinking, playing XBox, and just catching up. It was fantastic! I love the desert. Something about that dry heat, I enjoy it for some reason. There's a nice vibe to the desert that feels good to me.

So yeah, the next 8 days I'm at my own home, then I spend 10 at my friend's place. I think my roommate is worried I might stop paying rent.
