ok... for those who have asked... i am now employed as a cat-team insurance adjuster. this means i'll get to travel months at a time to places i may or may not have been to and see what they look like after a major catastrophe.
upside is that i get to help people start the long process of putting their lives back together and make a decent paycheck. downside is that i'm not sure how long i'll be able to do it... i've discovered in 10 days of work that this is a very emotionally taxing job. i heard sob stories on a nightly basis for 5 years at the pawn shop, but the customers were generally lying to support a habit of some sort. here, i'm hearing more dramatic stories that i know are true.
many of the claims that i have been assigned are in some of the hardest hit parts of NOLA... what do you say to someone that will make them feel better as you stand in the puddle where their house used to be?
so if i'm a little more somber than usual for the next couple of months... its nothing personal
upon closer inspection... every claim i have is in the same zip code as the London St. levee break location...
