There's a major motion picture ("Syriana") starring George Clooney and Matt Damon being filmed at my workplace this week. Unfortunately, Clooney and Damon are not in the scenes being filmed, damndamndamn.
The good news is that I have been "discovered!" The bad news is that I was "discovered" by the film crew, not by any casting agents/directors/producers. Some of the crew approached Tom, our young and handsome A/V librarian and asked him, "Who's the hottie on the motorcycle?" To which Tom replied, "Oh, that's just HOLLY."
My answer would have been, "I'm Holly, the one y'all forgot to cast in the love scene with George Clooney!" (Or Matt Damon---whichever one I like best.)
Anyway, I was flattered as I was bewildered; it always perplexes me when I find that words like "hottie" have been used to refer to me, but it also makes me feel nice.
The show was great last night; I hope we can pull it off again the next two nights. Come see. Details are at http://www.fluidmovement.org and in the Baltimore City Paper and in the Sunpapers.
Favorite poem du jour is by Lucian Blaga:
"I Will Not Crush The World's Corolla of Wonders
I will not crush the world's corolla of wonders
and I will not kill
with reason
the mysteries I meet along my way
in flowers, eyes, lips, and graves.
The light of others
drowns the deep magic hidden
in the profound darkness.
I increase the world's enigma
with my light
much as the moon with its white beams
does not diminish but increases
the shimmering mystery of night--
I enrich the darkening horizon
with chills of the great secret.
All that is hard to know
becomes a greater riddle
under my very eyes
because I love alike
flowers, lips, eyes, and graves."

Oh, no! Tom had the emphasis on the "Holly!" He was being complimentary.
