Hello kiddies! I'm back! Did you miss me?
I always come back from this conference sooo tired. It runs until 11 pm, and then the crowd goes to the local watering hole afterwards. Breakfast stops being served at 8, and lectures start again at 9, plus you sleep in one of the dorms, with their really not comfortable beds, and you get home feeling pooped. Of course, I still have to get up early today, so I can go to be early tonight, so I can get up at 5 am tomorrow for work.
Friends might be going to a club tonight, but I don't know if I can stand that much less sleep tonight. We'll see.
So, besides being exhausted, the conference went pretty well. There are always speakers that make you want to nap. One in particular was a woman doing a lecture on native plants for formal gardens, then proceded to show mostly pictures of her not formal back yard, calling it a formal setting. She had a few plants on her list that I will check out, but she had no ideas on a more formal setting, and that's what I was really looking for.
The main speaker lectured at the end of the conference, and I was too burned out to do more than just listen to her design ideas, which were great, but I would have liked it if she spoke at the beginning of the conference and I was in the mood to take notes.
I didn't meet that many new people, the crowd was very wierd, not very social. That disappointed me because another point of this conference is networking. Maybe next year it will be better in that respect.
But, I did get my parents a plant for their anniversary and I got my Mom a Franklinia for her front garden, which we are in the process of putting together. I also got an American Wisteria for our tiny yard. I'm hoping to train it along our fence to act as a screen.
So, today we're going over to Tailin's family's house to celebrate his sister's quinceanera. Actually she's not having a quinceanera party, but she did turn 15 on Friday, so we're going to celebrate, and get things around for his cousin's bridal shower, which is next Sunday.
We bought the sides for our raised veggie beds last night, so maybe we'll get them going this week.
Tuesday I'm going to my ink guy and getting a few spots touched up on my Om tattoo. Tailin talked to him yesterday also about his all-red tattoo, and he seemed pretty willing to work with him on it. We also asked about the red ink allergy we've heard about and it turns out it could be an iodine allergy, since many manufacturers use iodine in their red ink. And, since he's not allergic to iodine, and since the artist's manufacturer doesn't use iodine, we should be good to go. Whenever the $$ is available that is.
I guess that's everything new. Even if it's not, I'm sure it's enough for now.
Hope everyone is doing well. It's nice to be back.

next time you're in the area let me know mayhaps we can "do lunch" or something
and your assumption is correct!! older golfers are always either the daddy figure who are very sweet to you and funny as long as you act like a perfect daughter-working-her-way-through-college figure. the other half of them are dirty sketchy old men who just want someone to flirt with them but dont want to be seen at a strip club. i swear waitressing is a paycheck away from stripping! but i could never give it up, it's too ridiculous!
