Boy, just realized I haven't made a journal entry since late May so here I am again. Oddly enough, as I haven't been very active on the site at all over the last few months I have somehow added a few new SG friends. Go figure... Anyway, Hi to all my SG friends both old and new. I hope to get back to being a...

As I write this, there is no end in sight to the lock out. Oh well, as the Russians say, "What is to be done." At least I can go down and Boo the Albany River Rats (NJ's farm team).
Listen to AIR AMERICA RADIO!

Will there be a 2004-2005 NHL season, and will you watch the World Cup of Hockey?
richiedagger:

i was hoping to come out to NY for the RNC...if i can get out there we should meet up or something.

So my NY Islanders were bounced out of the playoffs in the first round and I have very little interest in the rest of the NHL playoffs. I wouldn't mind seeing a Philly/Calgary final with Calgary taking the cup, but then again, if it's not the Islanders I don't really care.
In the meantime, the weather here in NYC is really beginning to change for...

I had the game on picture in picture so I missed the hit but did see the goal. I did see the replay, that was thisclose to charging. Typical of Tucker, yes? It is odd that you don't have that much enmity for the Flyers. I don't really like them buy you gotta love Roenick, he is a breathe of fresh air.

What a difference a week makes. Last week at this time I was confident as my NY Islanders entered their first round playoff series. Well, a week later we are down in the series 3 games to 1. Last week I predicted the Islanders would win the series in 6 games. Now the only way they can win is to take it in the full...

Dude, sorry 'bout your boyz. Went down in a blaze of glory. Okay, not so glorious. They made some serious rookie-type mistakes in the 2nd Period. What was Niinama thinking? And how's 'bout DiPietro w/out a stick for over 30 BLOODY SECONDS? Rookie mistakes. Well, if it is any consolation, the Sens are down 3 games to 2 against those damn Leafs. As for the political side, I have one message: Hooray for indifference! (That would be mine and mine only.)
jabberwok:
Hey, how are our picks for the first round turning out. Being the lazy rat-bastard that I am, I let you have the chore of keeping track. Go Sens! Isles should have never let Chara go, huh? Hey, what do you think of the Mike Danton brouhaha? Holy Cow! Not something that normally happens in the hockey community.
So I've been listening to Air America Radio every day since it went on the air last Wednesday. Can't get over how great it is to hear a dissenting opinion in this country. When the Bush administration set the cycle of lies and war in motion, most rallied around the flag as a knee jerk reaction of what's expected of them. Others reflected about the...

punks not dead,
i totally agree with you about aar. i get so excited listening to it, which is where i start to double check myself, but i'm getting past it. but i'm into it, franken is smart and so funny. and i like your protest analogy, it is a rallying the troops kind of thing. i talk to my wife and friends all the time about how we all hate the gov't, so it would make sense to not worry too much about the aar slant.
for a smaller city portland had really big turnouts for the day the war started protest and the one year anniversary. it really bolsters my spirit to be at those things.

I hate ESPN. I really don't know who the pairings are as I dont' know how the season ended. And those jerks at ESPNNews, well baseball season has started so now hockey goes by the wayside. You ever notice how when they show the stats on the ticker for hockey, its just a brief thing and then they move on to the next sport, like bowling or NASCAR. But with all other sports, they show every stat from how the waterboy did upwards. Ridiculous. Let me know the who's playing who and I will give you my picks. Sorry 'bout the ranting digression.
jabberwok:
I think the problem w/ESPN is that hockey has the labor troubles brewing and it don't make 'nough moo-lah. Hence, not much coverage. I don't miss NHL tonight because the treat the Sabres as if the are a midget team. Boo on them, Fuckers! In the interest of full disclosure, I only watch hockey. I play lacrosse myself. I do enjoy watching the English Premier League (soccer). Occassionally rugby. That's it though. Does women's tennis count (so hot!) Anyhoo, My Picks: Lightning in 7 (yes the Isles have owned them this season but I think the Bolts have turned the corner), Devils in 6 (Brodeur, even w/out Stevens), Bruins in 6 (If Theodore's hot, all bets off!), Leafs in 7 (I hate myself for this but the Leafs are the 900 lb. gorilla on the Sens back; I will be thrilled if I am wrong). To be honest, I don't really care about the West.

They both won. Margin is still 3 points. You've got 'Canes away and the Flyers, don't know where. We've got Leafs home and the Habs up in Montreal. Nail-biting time. And Mess is gone, whaddaya think o'that?
jabberwok:
You're in, I'm out. Oh well, the boys were leaps and bounds over last year so there is hope for the future. For the playoffs, I am casting my lot w/the Sens. I like what the can do. I know who you're rooting for.
Oh, I got a picture in my pics you might like, heh, heh.
