ah...day 3...

pretty exciting, actually.

started with me having to roll out of bed at 8 (ugghh! it seems so early now!) and head out for a routine dr's appt. got on the train at 9:20 (appointment uptown at 10), finally got to manhattan at 10:05.

10:05, people.

i live, uh, maybe FIVE minutes from manhattan on the train.

but for whatever reason, we sat in the tunnel under the east river for nearly 40 minutes. THAT FREAKS ME OUT. firstly, i had 0 minutes to get from union square to 80th and Madison, and since i failed out of my star trek academy folding space/time class, that just wasn't going to happen, and secondly, and more importantly, i am starting to get claustrophobic in my old age and being stuck inside a tin can beneath a bloody freezing river, with hundreds of people who are all infected with Goddess knows what, hacking up a lung and what not, and to top it off, that lovely smell -- you know what i'm talking about -- the mixture of piss, last night's vomit and potting soil (i still don't understand the potting soil - i mean i know we're underground, but...potting soil?)...well, it was unpleasant at best.

needless to say, bette got her ass outta there at 3rd ave and called the doc. no way am i going to get uptown in a timely manner. so i cancel (my health insurance is a mess right now anyway -- how much am i paying for COBRA and how much trouble has it been?) and start slushing off towards union square, wondering if i'll still be able to drink beer when my face freezes off.

anyway, things improved from there, thankfully i just went straight to the gym, got a nice 6 miles in, then went to have lunch at the most fabulous Organic Grill (my fave place in nyc...unless you count those places i can only go on someone else's expense account -- blue ribbon sushi, lupa, raoul's...yummmm!) with my friend Jenny - a very cool AD who is currently pursuing the freelance lifestyle, too. she got unnecessarily laid off from the large mall retailer shortly before i quit, and, like me, is sooooo much happier!

so we had tofu scramble, tempeh sausage and tea (yummy!) and then went to alt by tompkins square for more dishin' and soy lattes. (by way of the vegan bakery -- where my favorite bartender, Peter from St. Dymphna's was getting juices for the hot mamas that work the room at Dymphna's. Peter...he knows how to treat the ladies!! and he always plays the Jam for me whenever i go in. now that's my kind of man! he gives me beer, and he gives me the Jam. of course, i give him money...)

after alt, then off to introduce Jen to the wonders of the organic grocery store (community market?) on 1st ave, then i bid her adieu and hopped a bus up to the U.N., then another one over to the mid-manhattan library, where i scored some questionable collection of erotic stories about things that go bump in the night, and Dirty Pretty Things. (unfortunately, i'm talking about the DVD, not actual dirty pretty things to play with. that, i'd imagine, i'd be more likely to find back in the east village after dark).

then i went crazy, hopped the 7 back to brklyn and actually caught the g without waiting 30 minutes.

a super duper day! now i'm having tea and these new flax seed/choco chip vegan cookies from the vegan bakery and remarking on my shock that i got some free shit from Bliss in the mail. (wow...filling out those surveys actually pays off, sometimes.)

and i found out i have a one-day gig tomorrow - wheee! money!

ahhhh...again, if only i had the cash to do this on a regular basis...

who am i kidding. i'd be fuckin' bored. but for now -- it's super sweet!

AND -- if anyone buys stuff from Bliss off their website, i got a 10% off coupon -- just type in the code "CATSUR" at checkout. and boyz - get something nice for the ladies, o.k.?

hope everyone is enjoying their bitterly cold wednesday!

Yes you have caught me sportin my newbies, although slightly past my teen years that picture was taken circa 1983 about a week before the Honolulu Marathon. I actually still run in New Balance although my shoe and sneaker collection can be somewhat vast.

The Party at this point was only virtual. I am however seeking a legitimate shipment, eventually we will have a get together. Massachusetts I believe is a state that you cannot ship any type of liquor to so I may drive to Albany to fetch some. Albany is a hour or so away, a straight shot west on the Mass Turnpike. Original Absinthe is a subject often mired in false information so I thought The Virtual Party would be informative, thought provoking, and amusing. It seems as though many of my SG friends were bumming over the shadow of an extended winter or illness hence it was also an attempt to distract.

I consumed Absinthe several times in the past. The flavor is sort of funky but once over the taste and again I emphasize, used responsibly, original recipe Absinthe is a positive experience. I recall fond memories, and in recall I mean every now and again a vision flashes before my eyes of times spent in Marseille, Rota, and Majorca indulging. Its unlike anything I have experienced. As they say Fortune favors the Bold and my youth was richly brazen.
Seems you had a wonderful day for the most part. New York will soon blossom with spring, a fine time for Marathon training. I used to spend a lot of time in the City. I had a female friend who danced in shows (Rockette). She was from Westfield and would come back and work for me when she needed a break or between gigs. Sometimes I would run from our apartment in Greenwich Village uptown around the top of Central Park and back. I would leave around 3 in the morning and be back before sunrise.

I see that it appears you are you Vegetarian or Vegan is that correct?
Im sure you have been to Mamoun's on MacDougal. The Falafel is unbelievable.

hmmm. thanks for the heads up...
unfortunately I know of no-one who would be willing to spend 150 bucks to see me for one night.....This, despite the fact that im sure I could make it worth their while. But hey, if you know of anyone, let me know, okay?

speaking of attaching monetary value to intercourse with me, buy me this and I will give you intercourse beyond your wildest dreams:
