Lately I've been avoiding revision for my exams. As any good procrastinator these days does, I went to youtube and facebook for relief from achievement and in watching my usual boring philosopho-babble (boring to most people, not to me obviously) I came across an Ayn Rand clip where she says that she wouldn't vote for a female Presidential candidate and that it is not in a woman's interest to be in such a position.
Now, I've read feminist philosophy and what I have read is generally lacking, and that's not even the current hard-line feminist that seems to be going around on the internet. The new word for me in 2012 is misandry: the hatred of men. A few years ago I'd have probably gone along with any extreme position that suited me best but these days I try to take a more balanced approach to things. Even things which I disagree with like hard-line feminism a.k.a. misandry (which interestingly is a word yet it appears as a misspelled word when typed).
I think there's a lot of whining going on from the 'male camp' about this, but on the other hand there is such a great deal of misinformation regarding women and women's rights compared to men and men's rights that the government, the law, and media all are on the whole moving towards misandry rather than equality.
Why can't folk see that society works in virtue of our fundamental differences? Men and women should fulfil their roles in respect to each other because, if one is prevented from fulfilling their role then the others role must then fill in the gap. How can one genuinely replace the other? How can you get the result of two from the work of one?
Okay enough procrastination, back to studying the philosophy of Logical Atomism
