Last week I was working at the nurses station when one of my new favorite residents, Jack, rolled up to me in her wheelchair. She has incredibly innocent looking, big bright blue eyes and snow white hair. She seems as if she’d never hurt a fly. But Jack likes to tell stories of fighting her brothers when she was little and likes to threaten to slit the throats of the people that make her angry. She is obsessed with throat slitting like she knows every Game of Thrones episode. Now, of course she never actually hurts anyone, but my day is not complete unless Jack has threatened to slit someone’s throat. She also likes to raise her fist like she plans on slugging someone “just like I used to do to my brothers.”
Jack went to reach for an aides jacket that was sitting at the station. I asked her why she was taking something that wasn’t hers and going through the pockets as if she was planning on keeping whatever she found.
I said to her, “You aren’t trying to steal are you?”
She looks me dead in the eye and says, “Oh hell yes! I am that bitch from way back! You aren’t going to stop me.” She took the jacket and rolled away in her chair.
It made me laugh and my little heart smile 💕💕
