Too much heat, tempting thoughts to disappear. I'm tired and feeling oh so dull...
The trees are drooping and the plants we dug ground for are dried and crisp, looking like that lady we know with the shitty perm. The dogs lay around, sleeping but restless, waking completely only to stalk the flies and moths that have been swirling near our backdoor.
I watched the sky last night without you, my Camel burning my throat and making my hungry stomach queasy. I watched from our balcony as the clouds rolled over our mountain view, sparking with light and clapping in the distance. You weren't waiting for me on the bed as usual, reading your books, letting the dog curl up at your feet. I remembered something you had said to me before you left, laying there with your book tucked in your hands. Your words had been stuck in my throat for sometime, something I couldn't quiet admit to you let alone myself.
I watched as the droplets of rain began to pour off the tin roof across the way, absorbing quickly into the parched ground. I watched and I was silent as the rain soothed the heat that was growing inside me.
