So I've decided to save three horses. They were put out on a relatives farm and left. I got one of them friendly enough that I can brush it, and as far as we know, that's the first time it's been worked with at all in three years. So today I went to Hubbard and got them a round bale of hay and a 50lbs bag of pellets to get them eating a little better. I'm going to TSC and getting a bag of sweet feed and a bag of rolled oats for them before I go out next so I can get some fat on them. And after I get some money built up, I'm going to try to get them a loafing shed built, because the shelter they have now is just terrible. Only one has been saddle broke before, but she seems to be warming up to me the fastest. Since she doesn't respond at all to her name, I'm renaming her Sasha. I'll get pics when I go out there again in the next day or two (forgot my phone in the truck today). The lady that whose husband owns the farm (he's old and pretty much gone upstairs) is the one giving me the authority to work with them and do what I need to do to get them better. And she's even reimbursing me for hay, which is nice of her.

dewormer is only like 10 bucks and thats something thats really important to do, almost as much as their feet. If they are skinny you can make them beat pulp mash because thats a really fast way to add pounds on them and its pretty inexpensive. Corn also has a lot of fat in it. If they have worms they could look fat but really they are full of worms and horses should be wormed every 6-8 weeks.
