The day started out with my declaration that I was a country boy in my deepest heart. Later, I walked past a department store mannequin wearing a Burberry polo shirt, Lucky jeans, and Ecco shoes identical to what I was wearing. Then, I bought a sillily expensive Mont Blanc pen. I found some irony in that all when I had time to reflect.
Here's the odd thing: I feel somehow guilty for buying myself these nice things. For as much as I discuss the trinkets that I buy, I really feel guilty that I spent money on myself that didn't need to be spent when other people in other places could have used that money for something necessary. Apocryphally, Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics made himself crazy thinking that his good luck eventually had to run out. I guess if you don't have enough issues to worry about, you'll invent some.
Then "She Sells Sanctuary" comes on iTunes, and you forget being all philosophical.

I guess if you don't have enough issues to worry about, you'll invent some.
So true.
Then "She Sells Sanctuary" comes on iTunes, and you forget being all philosophical.
More true.
