WELL my semester is over and now that I have had some decent sleep I feel a million times better! This semester was a trial for me but I know I learned a lot and came out with some great pieces for my portfolio. I also started using Zbrush! woo!
I also want to post some of my stuff but I was told not to post things in case they get stolen :/ that does worry me (especially since I don't have a logo yet to put on my work) So an extra special warning...
DON'T STEAL MY SHIT BITCHES! hahaha
anyway...
So my first class was character development. We had to come up with a game idea and pick a character from it to model and then rig. My character is Lettuce Legume from my game called Produce (the name kind of sucks so I want to change it).
Lettuce Legume grew up in a town called Produce and is aspiring to be the Gran Gormon. Though something rotten is coming into town and she has to flee and work with other villages to save her own from the terrible Fetid Rank. With her mighty spork in hand and her company B.E.R.I. to help her along the way, she is embarking on a mighty adventure.
Lettuce must use her cooking skills to whip up food to help her fight. (it is kind of like the alchemy system from Oblivion). Anyway here is her action pose AND YES THAT IS A SPORK :
her 2D layout:
then her 3D layout:
I used maya and the toon shaders. I had a hell of a time making alpha channels work with the toon shader but I did it! This was my first time modeling a person and damn did I learn A LOT. so yeah
now onto my other class...
this was for Intro to VSFX. The first two assignments were cars and apparently I can't model cars for the life of me. I also had a rough start to the semester so they look like shit...I will only post my poly one but even my poly one is really bad
bleh...but yeah I still learned a lot from the experience. Also it is supposed to be a 1973 Honda civic. (Just so you know)
Then the 3rd assignment was to make something with either Vue, Zbrush, or Mudbox. Now Vue isn't used for video games but it is an amazing program. It is what Avatar used to create it's environments. I however wanted to use Zbrush because I "owned" a copy and wanted to learn it anyway. Plus I heard more studios use it rather than mudbox.
So I made a sea creature that I have yet to name. Remember this is my first time using Zbrush...I actually created a simple model in maya then made is awesome in zbrush.
yay! I love this thing...Still needs work but yeah Then the second assignment I could do whatever I wanted so I made an ant queen monster in zbrush:
I wish I had more time to work on but for making that in like a week (and by week I mean 3 days) I thought it was pretty good.
So yeah that is what my semester consisted of, also lack of sleep and lots of self doubt. Though I am much better now!
I can't believe how much I missed here on SG...I need to go look at all the hopefuls! and OMG Moxi on the front page NOM NOM NOM YES!
Alright my blog is long enough! be well my kitties
