The zoo was a pretty decent field trip. One of the kids(the one who bites) tried riding a goat in the petting zoo. He was so mad when one of the T.A. got him off. He bit her hard on the hand. The kids had lot of fun checking out the animals and we watched Lucy the elephant paint a picture. The coolest thing we saw was a monkey trying to get a treat out of a water bottle. I don't remember what kind of monkey it was but it had really long fingers. At first he would try to get it and then throw it out of frustration, then it found out that it worked better if he bent the plastic. We all cheered when he got it out.
My boyfriend and I went to the Legislature building today. There was a rally on all the budget cuts they are doing on education. I would have thought there would have been a bigger turnout. Well maybe I didn't think there would be a bigger turnout but i wish there would have been. As someone who works with children with special needs I know that inclusion without support just doesn't work; and as someone who wants a child in the future, I don't want my future child's education compromised. I'm really dismayed in the type of society we are turning into. This have and have not. The people who can afford proper education will get it while the others will have to take the scraps.
